Entry #1

Hi!  My name is Melody and this is a second blog for me.  I also have the blog www.melody-learningonthejob.com which I like to detail the life of our small farm.  I don't usually get into preparedness over on that blog and I don't really care to start so I thought I'd start something new here.

I'm a secular humanist as my blog implies.  My parents did a great job raising me to be baptist, it's of no fault of theirs that I no longer consider myself a "child of g/God".  I try hard to be respectful of other people's beliefs so you won't hear me bashing believers, nor will I allow comments bashing beliefs.  Truth is, I'll likely not speak much of my beliefs beyond this intro.  I find a lot of preppers will intermingle their faith with their posts....I'm not a fan.

I'm a prepper, but not really a doomsday prepper.  I tried to just be prepared for uncertainty and to help balance out our financial lows.  We try to keep an inventory of food that will last at least a month if we were somehow cut off from the grocery store.  Honestly, that's pretty unlikely to happen but it's a pretty reasonable amount of storage.  Ideally, I'd love to work up to a year's worth of rotating inventory.
